The West Hempstead Westerners fire department drill team competed in a state tournament preview in Hempstead Saturday afternoon.
The team got everyone's attention during the b ladder event, reaching the top in just 5.17 seconds after starting roughly 100 feet away and launching the ladder from a moving truck.
