WH Auxiliary Police Awarded at Annual Ceremony

The Nassau County Auxiliary Police held its 30th annual award ceremony at police headquarters on April 11.

County Executive Ed Mangano and Nassau Police Commissioner Thomas Dale praised the work of the auxiliary police in Nassau County on a daily basis, but especially during Hurricane Sandy.

The award winners were cheered on by a packed auditorium filled with relatives, elected officials and members of the police department.

The following members of the West Hempstead unit received awards for exceptional actions while on duty or exceeding hours required in 2012.

Excellent Service Award:

  • Sgt. Jonathan Roddin
  • Officer Garley Jean
For assistance that led to the arrest for a 2012 robbery that occurred in West Hempstead.

Meritorious Service Award:
  • Sgt. Jonathan Roddin
For assistance in the arrest of a drunk driver on Hempstead Turnpike in West Hempstead in 2012.

Hour Awards:
