WH Spa Arrests Reach 13 After Friday Prostitution Bust

Two Queens women arrested in Friday afternoon bust.

The string of arrests at West Hempstead spas continued Friday afternoon after two employees at Shunyuan Spa Inc. were arrested and charged with prostitution.

Friday's arrests bring the 2013 total up to 13 for both Shunyuan, located at 357 Hempstead Turnpike, Suite 203, and Lucy Day Spa, which is just down the road from Shunyuan at 300 Hempstead Turnpike.

According to Nassau County detectives, an undercover operation determined that Chuan Hong He, 34, and Qingyu Cheng, 43, both of Flushing, were practicing massage therapy without a license while working at Shunyuan Spa Inc.

Both defendants offered to engage in a sexual act for an undisclosed amount of money, police said. They were taken into custody without incident around 1:15 p.m.

The defendants were charged with unauthorized practice of a crime and prostitution. They will be arraigned on Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead.

Five employees of Shunyuan have been arrested in 2013, the last coming on March 5 when 52-year-old Peili Zheng was arrested and charged with prostitution.
