Adoptable Animal of the Week: Meet Cash

This playful Hound dog loves all people and is looking for a good home.

Name: Cash

Case Number: 4747

Hi there, I'm Cash and on this Mother's Day, I'm looking for a mommy (or a daddy) who will love me, take care of me and provide me with a good home.

I am an exuberant, playful male Hound dog. I love toys, but will give them up easily for a tasty treat. I even know how to fetch, and will return the ball to your hand!

I love everyone, even the most unusual of strangers. (I just need to learn how not to be so excited when meeting them.) Sometimes I jump up when greeting people, so I need to learn some manners and would be best suited in a family with teens or even tweens, rather than small kids.

I tolerate all types of handling and will readily share my resources with people. I may get a little sad if scolded, but I accept apologies readily.

I am very interested in making the acquaintance of other dogs, but I’m a rude, high-energy player, so I hope you’ll find me appropriate playmates who will play like I do and won’t take offense. I guess I should really learn some manners and impulse control when around other dogs.

I have already had some training (sit, shake, …) and am eager to learn more, especially if I'll be rewarded with my favorite treats ! I definitely need to learn to walk nicely on leash and not to be so jumpy!

Right now, I am staying at the Town of Hempstead Shelter in Wantagh, but the shelter setting makes me very upset and unsettled. It makes me feel a bit edgy and high-strung. Training may help build my confidence and will help us forge a relationship.

The Hempstead Town Animal Shelter is located at 3320 Beltagh Avenue in Wantagh. For more information on how you can adopt Cash or one of its other dogs or cats, call the shelter at (516) 785-5220 or visit www.toh.li/animal-shelter.
