Adoptable Animal of the Week: Meet Polly

This sweet cat nearly starved to death but is now healthy and ready to find a home.

Name: Polly

Hi, I'm Polly, and I'm looking to find my forever home.

Right now, I am living at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter. I was brought here after I was found starving to death on the streets. The shelter placed me with a foster to help me gain weight. When I arrived there, I was completely dazed and only weighed half of what I do now.

Now, I'm almost at my proper weight and have the sweetest, gentlest, friendliest personality. I love when people pet me and brush me! I still love to eat. (Some say it looks like I'm afraid each meal will be my last.)

I am ready to go up for adoption but since I have been through so much already, the shelter staff really doesn't want me to have to wait for a home in a cage at the shelter.

If anyone wants a friendly little cat, I'm your girl! Please contact the  at (516) 785-5220. The shelter is located at 3320 Beltagh Avenue in Wantagh. Adoption hours are Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. All adopted pets will be spayed or neutered, will receive all required innoculations and will be microchipped, all free of charge.

From June 20 to Sept 20, the shelter is running its "Summer of Love" promotion, which means all adoptions are free!
