Candidate Profiles: Alan Beach

Deputy mayor running for his second term on village board.

Alan Beach, currently serving as Lynbrook's deputy mayor, is running for his second term on the village board.

The 28-year village resident was first elected in 2007 along with fellow New Vision Party members Brian Curran, who was elected mayor, and Bill Hendrick, elected trustee.

Beach was one of the founding members of both the Lynbrook Excellence in Education Foundation and the Lynbrook Roller Hockey League. He is a member of both the Our Lady of Peace Parish Council and the Knights of Columbus.

He retired from the FDNY as a lieutenant after 26 years of service, and is a state-certified instructor in fire service, principles of fire investigation, and prevention and control.  Beach is married to his wife Rina of 32 years, and has two children, Alan J. and Gregory.

Why are you running for another term?

I am running for another term to serve the people of Lynbrook for four more years. My team and I have accomplished many things in the last four years that I am proud of. I plan to continue continue this trend to bring other projects to fruition.

How do you feel about the job you personally have done on the Lynbrook village board?

I feel that I am conscientious and I do whatever I can to make this village a better place to live. That has been and will continue to be my focus.

What are some of the key challenges facing the village? How do you plan to address them?

The key challenges facing the village are many of the same challenges facing our country. We are concerned about the economy, jobs, and taxes.

I will continue to address each of these challenges by setting goals and creating a plan along with the mayor and the board to meet them head on. Our plan will include researching ways to fill our vacant properties and working with the town and county officials to accomplish these goals.

What would you like to see accomplished in your next term?

I would like to see the feather factory developed, the movie theater expanded and renovated, and the MTA stores revitalized. Lynbrook is a special place and I know we can attract businesses that will fit into our vision for the village.
