Curran Instrumental in Cyber Bullying Amendment

The approved measure will help protect students from online harassment.

Assemblyman Brian Curran (Lynbrook - 14th AD) Monday helped pass an amendment to the Dignity for All Students Act to give school administrators the necessary tools to help protect students from cyber bullying.

The legislation, which was passed by the New York State Assembly Monday, will protect students from online and Internet-based harassment, bullying and discrimination and requires school districts to establish protocols to respond to cyber bullying.

"Cyber bullying is a new reality of which parents and children need to be aware," Curran said. "This form of bullying is especially harmful due to a perpetrator's feeling of anonymity, allowing them to be excessively vicious because they do not see the immediate effect on their victim or fear any consequences for their actions. This legislation gives school administrators and parents a clear and defined process to help students who are victims of cyber bullying."

The law also requires the designation of a school official to receive and investigate reports promptly; take action to prevent recurrences; coordinate with law enforcement when appropriate; develop a bullying prevention strategy; and provide notice to all school community members of the school's policies.

"As a concerned parent, I know that our strategy to protect our children must change with the times," Curran said. "The unfortunate phenomenon of cyber bullying and its pervasiveness in our children's culture requires new and innovative steps to moderate incidents and safely mediate its consequences.

He added, "This law is a jumping point for school administrators, parents and lawmakers to investigate and use the means at our disposal to make our schools and communities safer for our children."

It's a big problem now a days. But I believe that every big problem has a great solution! Yeah you are right i have a great way to keep our children safe. My solution is PG Guard which is an online parenting system. I have mentioned some of it's features following:
• PG guard is a simple to use service that safeguards children on facebook. • PG guard safeguards children regardless of devices they use or their location. • PG guard constantly monitors your child's entire social environment. • PG guard uses unique artificial intelligence algorithms to profile each user. • Each social interaction is analyzed according to the profiles of the users involved. • PG guard informs parents of suspicious interactions in child's social environment. • PG guard allows parents to educate, encourage and set boundaries online. To know more please visit https://www.pgguard.com and i am sure you will be very glad to take their service.

That’s very nice that school districts that have the highest school taxes and costs, areRead More receiving additional money. The problem is that our state is in dire financial trouble and we can’t afford it. Upstate NY is a distressed disaster. How much more taxes are we going to pay?. Hear those feet marching out of state. Try fighting for drilling so we have jobs and revenue.

.......there they go again whitewashing a dilemma they don't want to touch......unconscionableRead More salaries and pensions paid by the taxpayer for incompetence? Not to mention 13 week vacations as well as numerous 1/2 days and weather shortened days. A $50000 band aid we end up paying indirectly anyway only increases taxes further down the road. They are either that stupid or they think we are!
