Pat Horan, the former director of the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter, has been appointed to a new position within the town.
The town confirmed Friday with Patch that Horan's new title is engineering helper and her salary will be $97,959.
Horan was reassigned to the Department of General Services in March of 2011 after a nearly 20-year-old YouTube video surfaced depicting employees making obscene gestures, handling a kitten and saying “kill the kitty."
At the time of her reassignment, Horan was earning $92,491 in her position. The new salary is a monetary increase of more than 5 percent.
According to Newsday [paid link]:
The town board approved a resolution Tuesday to formally make Horan an engineering helper, a noncompetitive civil service post that doesn't require an exam. The appointment was retroactive to May 23.
