Lynbrook Holds Halloween Havoc Before Sandy Brings Real Chaos [Photos]

Village held its annual Halloween celebration on Oct. 28, one day before the hurricane hit.

As Hurricane Sandy set her sights on the East Coast late last month, the aptly named "Frankenstorm" threatened to cancel the village of Lynbrook's annual Halloween Havoc celebration.

But before Mother Nature brought her wrath to the area Monday, she did provide a window of fair weather on Sunday afternoon for Lynbrook families to enjoy this Halloween tradition.

Dressed in costumes, they paraded through the village's "Spooky Walk" and then onto Atlantic Avenue, where Lynbrook's Recreation Department and local businesses had set up several craft stations for the kids, a dj and magic show.

The familes were able to celebrate Halloween and squeeze in a few hours of fun  before the skies opened up, showing the first signs of Sandy, rain, and then hurried home to brace for the worst of the storm, which would arrive the following night.
