Mangano Announces Funds for East Rockaway Recreational Improvements

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano recently announced the award of $375,000 in Federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for the Village of East Rockaway to undertake major projects in Memorial Park and at the East Rockaway Sports Complex.

“These Federal funds allow my administration to partner with Village of East Rockaway Mayor Francis Lenahan to refurbish the Memorial Park Outdoor Band Shell," Mangano said in a release.

The project includes "much-needed" lighting and the installation of a video surveillance system, Mangano said. Other funds will be allocated to improvements at the East Rockaway Sports Complex to resurface and re-line and "outdated" basketball court, and to install a new building with a concession stand and store equipment.

“Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano is stepping up yet again for the entire East Rockaway community,” said East Rockaway Mayor, Francis T. Lenahan, Jr. “The upgrades to Memorial Park and the John Street Complex, home to our Village Recreation Program, will provide our neighbors and especially our children with better facilities at no cost to the taxpayer.”
