Wondering what's growing and going on at , Nassau County's very own farm situated in the village of Malverne?

We'll keep you informed with our weekly "On the Farm" column. Here's our latest update from Farmer Bill Walsh, the Nassau Land Trust (the non-profit that operates the farm) and the rest of the crew at Crossroads.

You may have seen our recent video on Facebook featuring a butterfly on our zinnias. The butterfly is a tiger swallowtail butterfly, also known as a yellow swallowtail butterfly. They are commonly spotted on Long Island and in the northeast.

Other insects and bugs on the farm include honeybees, bumblebees, dragonflies, monarch butterflies, and ladybugs. The cabbage moth is another familiar insect, but one which we must be wary of in our brassica plants!
