Re-Register for STAR Exemption
After an audit discovered widespread abuse of the Basic STAR program, all residents must re-register for the exemptions by Dec. 31. Homeowners will receive a letter instructing them to reapply for the Basic STAR program in the coming weeks. Phone Scam Making Rounds
According to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), scammers have been making phone calls claiming to represent the National Do Not Call Registry. The calls offer an opportunity to sign up for the registry and attempt to pry personal information such as names, addresses, and social security numbers. Gun Buy Back Program in Uniondale
A Gun Buy Back Program will to be held on Saturday, Sept. 7 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Bishop R.W. Harris’ Grace Cathedral Church in Uniondale. The program is anonymous and individuals will be paid $100 per operable rifle, $200 cash per operable handgun and $400 cash per operable assault rifle. Click here for more.
