Redistricting Changes Malverne, West Hempstead, Lakeview Representation

Malvernites move to the 7th District, Lakeview loses Troiano and all of West Hempstead will go to Muscarella.

Nassau County Republicansto redistrict the area during a legislative session earlier today, which will impact how residents in Malverne, West Hempstead and Lakeview are represented.

Currently part of 6th district, Malverne is represented by Republican Francis Becker but the new plan, which passed by a vote of  10-8,  moves it to the 7th Legislative District, where Republican Howard J. Kopel serves as legislator.

Robert Troiano, D-Westbury, who represents District 2, was not present for the vote. He will lose Lakeview and part of West Hempstead under the plan and has criticized it as an attempt to dilute the power of minorities in his district.
