Tell Us: GPS Leading Truckers Astray?

Sen. Schumer wants to regulate GPS devices to alert truckers to roads they shouldn't be on. What do you think?

Sen. Charles Schumer is proposing a federal probe into the frequency of trucks striking low bridges, particularly on parkways in the metropolitan area.

Schumer, D-N.Y., has called for new federal standards for GPS devices, which Schumer says is leading truckers, many from out of state, onto roads not built for trucks.

Anyone who has listened to a traffic report in New York can understand the frustration of sitting on the Southern or Northern State, sometimes for hours, after a wayward truck slams into a low-hanging bridge. The bridges were built that way to prevent commercial vehicles from ever using the parkways.

But isn't there an easier way to solve this problem?

Should the federal government really be monitoring this level of stupidity?

Are the fines stiff enough for truck drivers and their employers who don't understand the meaning of "No Commercial Traffic" signs?

Sound off in the comments.

Enough with Sunday Schumer and his regulations. How about a little common sense on the drivers part? Plenty of signs warning of low bridges or no trucks! We do not need more goverment we need less!

Oh Please Chuckie is at it again solving all the problems, when are we going to hold the CDL Qualified Truckers accountable. What did the truckers do 10 years ago??? It is not like we just started putting up bridges recently. Part of the requirements of a Commerical Drivers Lic. is knowing the hight and weight of your truck. I guess signs with heights don't mean anything anymore, just like stop signs. Hey Chuckie how about solving some real issues.

Why does CHUCK hate TRUCKERS? Maybe because most of them are not LAWYERS? Easy Target because they are WORKING and not on some Goverment handout? How about going after the Places that give woman bad haircuts? More people have been harmed by that then a GPS.
