VIDEO: Demolition Crew Wipes Out Woodland Nursery

Local residents watch workers tear down Malverne landmark.

"We Make Things Disappear" read the T-shirts of the demolition workers who have been ripping down the old buildings at the Woodland Nursery site in Malverne this week.

Since Monday they have been gradually doing just that to the three structures that stood on the property, including one home that dates back to the 1850s.

While they hit some snags along the way that delayed progress, the historic at 131 Franklin Avenue finally fell Tuesday afternoon as a few local residents looked on. While digging through the rubble they came upon some interesting findings.

Watch the video report above to see.

Demolition of the finally building - the nursery's one-story shop - was taking place Wednesday afternoon.

Stay with Patch for more developments about the fate of this land.

That house had some beautiful mosaic tile work inside, its kind of a shame the house was just demoed, without trying to save anything possibly for the historical society and without any solid plans for new. It will be kind of sad to see another open space filled up with housing! In it's glory, that place was a nice place to visit, especially when they did the fall festival stuff.

That’s very nice that school districts that have the highest school taxes and costs, areRead More receiving additional money. The problem is that our state is in dire financial trouble and we can’t afford it. Upstate NY is a distressed disaster. How much more taxes are we going to pay?. Hear those feet marching out of state. Try fighting for drilling so we have jobs and revenue.

.......there they go again whitewashing a dilemma they don't want to touch......unconscionableRead More salaries and pensions paid by the taxpayer for incompetence? Not to mention 13 week vacations as well as numerous 1/2 days and weather shortened days. A $50000 band aid we end up paying indirectly anyway only increases taxes further down the road. They are either that stupid or they think we are!
