VIDEO: Residents Protest Hempstead Town Animal Shelter

Hope for Hempstead Shelter and other community members protest again.

Hope for Hempstead Shelter supporters hit the streets yet again to raise awareness about allegations surrounding the Hempstead Town Animal Shelter.

Among their concerns are bloated salaries, inefficient budget management, alleged animal neglect and abuse and corruption.

However, this time protestors are also calling for an investigation into whether another current Hempstead Town employee was present in the Kill the Kitty YouTube video.

Hempstead Town officials called the latest version "heavily edited" and a "rehash."

"In fact, the town responded swiftly to the video, removing the acting director from the shelter," said Hempstead Town Communications Director Mike Deery. "The re-released video provides no new or conclusive evidence as to the identity or activities of other town employees beyond those previously identified. It is shocking and disappointing that someone would heavily edit for dramatic effect the material of a video that should be viewed seriously without sensational video and sound editing."

Among the protestors were Derek Donnelly, director of Hope for Hempstead Shelter, Legis. Dave Denenberg, D-Merrick, and Gary Port, attorney and candidate for Hempstead Town supervisor.

Yes Laurie,Thank you for speaking out! The treatment of the animals AND adopters has NOT CHANGED .Everyone that I have spoken to while spreading the word has another horror ,one worse than the other. If it were 15 years ago it would be bad enough, but they are from 20 years ago to NOW! I have witnessed things while trying to adopt too.The kennels are filthy, and the poor animals lack the most basic things.Check out their paws and see the self induced wounds when they lick away their fur.And to get any help after you surrender your identity to them by giving them your name, address ,and Driver's license number, you better catch them after something has been on the news and they try to give you what little bit of best behavior they can fathom.BUT wear your gas mask or you will choke on bleach. They know their party is over, hence the ridiculous, disgusting, pathetic postings. They are just getting scared and DESPERATE! This means that change is DEFINITELY coming. This is a movement now, that has followers posting from Australia and the UK..There is a petition signed by people around the world too! The word is out and they put the spotlight on themselves. The house of cards is tumbling!

I forgot to mention that the Town of Hemp Abuse Shelter doesn't take phone calls anymore, just email. I emailed them about a cat I saw on Petfinder.com in March. I never got an answer. I emailed again in April and still have not heard a word. SO, if they don't take phone calls and don't answer emails, how the hell do these animals get adopted? For 7 million dollars maybe they could hire some schmuck to answer email. (but they just don't care)

That's because Kate Murray aka "FAT KAT" put the screws on the shelter until she has enough photo opportunities to make it seem she turned it around herself... I can see it now... picture FAT KAT nursing kittens by hand using PABA-free bottles and nipples, with milk sourced from free-range Maine Coons using only sustainable and animal-friendly milking techniques.

Hahaha...Frank thanks for the laugh! On an serious note, unfortuntely it is SO true and animals are suffering and dying as we speak! But we know that"FAT KAT" is doing that so that no volunteers can be allowed into that dog pound(shelter means protection which the animals do not get protection)! Why doesn't she want volunteers ? Because someone who volunteers and cares about the animals and doesn't get paid has NO AGENDA ,therefore abuses will get reported(hence what happened in November)..and this Kate definitely doesn't want again ! TOHAS has a lot to hide and unpaid volunteers in this pound will follow the simple rule of "see something, say something" that the paid cronies don't do! This place is WORSE THAN EVER and Kate is terrified of the day voulunteers will be allowed in..BUT it is coming!
