Local Leaders Celebrate Columbus, Italian Heritage Month

Lynbrook board and TOH Councilman Santino honor Sons of Italy Per Sempre Lodge #2344.

Not only is today a celebration of Christopher Columbus discovering America, but the entire month of October is dedicated to recognizing the contributions of Italian-Americans across the country.

In honor of Columbus Day and National Italian Heritage Month, Town of Hempstead Senior Councilman Anthony J. Santino, Lynbrook Mayor William Hendrick and the Lynbrook Village Board saluted both the Order Sons of Italy Per Sempre Lodge #2344 and Per Sempre Ladies Lodge #2344 on Oct. 1.

The local officials presented a citation to members of the Lodge, which is based in Lynbrook, at the start of last Monday's village board meeting to acknowledge the contributions that Italian-Americans have made to American culture and heritage.

Order Sons of Italy in America is the largest and oldest Fraternal Organization of Italian Americans in America.
