Home Sales Rise on Long Island

Home prices also moved up in August.

The housing market on Long Island is showing signs of life.

The number of home sales increased to 2,603 last month in Nassau and Suffolk counties, up from 2,240 in August of last year, according to statistics compiled by the Multiple Listing Service of Long Island.

Home prices also moved upward.

In Nassau County, the median sales price moved up to $445,000, a modest 2.3 percent increase. The jump was stronger in Suffolk County, where sales rose by more than 8 percent to $347,750.
