Auditor: West Hempstead Financial Reports Reliable

An external auditor issues highest assurance to West Hempstead school district.

The latest financial reports for the West Hempstead school district are reliable, free of errors, according to an external auditor.

Alan Yu of Cullen & Danowski, LLP, gave his annual report on the state of West Hempstead school’s financials at Tuesday's board of education business meeting. The purpose of the external audit is to look at the financial statements and internal control on compliance. Yu said that they were able to issue an “unqualified opinion,” which is the highest assurance an independent auditor can give.

“What that means is that readers of financial statements can place reasonable reliance on your financial statements that they are free of material misstatements in both the numbers and disclosures,” he said.

At the Oct. 18 meeting, the district's head of Pupil Personnel Services also delivered  and celebrated Board of Education Appreciation Month. Music and art students paid tribute to the board members with performances from the chamber orchestra and chorus, as well as a presentation of handmade cards. Furthermore, several students were recognized for their outstanding achievements in and out of the classroom.

The next West Hempstead Board of Education meeting will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the high school video conference room.

That’s very nice that school districts that have the highest school taxes and costs, areRead More receiving additional money. The problem is that our state is in dire financial trouble and we can’t afford it. Upstate NY is a distressed disaster. How much more taxes are we going to pay?. Hear those feet marching out of state. Try fighting for drilling so we have jobs and revenue.

.......there they go again whitewashing a dilemma they don't want to touch......unconscionableRead More salaries and pensions paid by the taxpayer for incompetence? Not to mention 13 week vacations as well as numerous 1/2 days and weather shortened days. A $50000 band aid we end up paying indirectly anyway only increases taxes further down the road. They are either that stupid or they think we are!
