Carnival Time At Our Lady Of Peace School

The 19th annual event helps to raise money for the school.

This weekend brought sunshine and smiles to the carnival goers at Our Lady of Peace School. The 19th annual event was held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday to help raise money for the school.

Raffles, rides, refreshments and a Dunk Tank kept the crowds of people, young and old, busy. Booths and food stands were all staffed by parent and family volunteers from the school.

A highlight was Lynbrook Mayor Brian Curran's appearance at the Dunk Tank, along with other well-known village residents, including Lynbrook police officer Brian Paladino.  Paladino encourged the children and adults to take their best shot at him.

Many children won goldfish to take home. A climbing wall attracted a large crowd around it as the brave ones climbed to the top.  Others could be found, shoeless, jumping away in the bouncing rooms.

Nearby, volunteers painted small faces and designed tattoos. Under a tent, one could buy, for a dollar, a raffle for a blue and white blanket, "made with love."

Save for the goldfish and Dunk Tank volunteers, it was a dry, lively weekend carnival for all.
