The East Rockaway School District recently announced that Lisa Ruiz has been named as the new Superintendent of Schools effective August 1, following the retirement of Dr. Roseanne Melucci.
Ruiz previously served as Assistant Superintendent for Instruction and Educational Services in the Merrick School District.
Melucci served as Superintendent since 2002 and announced her retirement back in February. Her decision to retire had been in the works for a while and she recently expressed her appreciation to the board of education and employees, the LI Herald reported.
