Football Preview: Lynbrook vs Manhasset

No. 1 Owls to host No. 8 Indians in quarterfinals.

With an impressive 7-1 regular season record, the Lynbrook Owls locked up the No. 1 seed in the Nassau County Conference III playoffs.
   
On Saturday, they'll host the No. 8 Manhasset Indians in the quarterfinals. , led by three touchdowns from running back Travis Lock. But despite the decisive win, Lynbrook coach Steve Locicero says the team is still taking the game very seriously.
   
"We prepare for each opponent the same way, which is find both their strengths and how we can take advantage of personnel mismatches," Locicero said. "[Manhasset] is well coached and have a good team. In the end, we do what we do well, which is run the ball and play great defense and exceptional special teams."
   
Still, with Lynbrook's only loss being by one point — a 23-22 Lawrence victory that came down to the final seconds on Oct. 23 — Locicero said he has great confidence in the squad headed into Saturday's game.
   
"The team has really come together as a unit these past weeks," he said, "and we are begging to play our best football of the season together."
