Health and Wellness Week Comes to West End

Fitness walks, yoga help students learn about being healthy.

Health and Wellness Week was enjoyed by Lynbrook's West End students with fun activities and a week of healthy learning.

The week kicked off with students participating in a fitness walk and later enjoying a Subway lunch courtesy of the PTA.

The fifth graders were given a presentation by Nassau County Detective Pamela Stark about making right choices, the consequences of poor choices and how to avoid harmful situations.

Fourth graders exercised and learned how to take their pulse with fitness trainer and nutritionist Kristie Lengyel.

Yoga classes were enjoyed by parents and first graders. Bug bite safety was discussed to prepare students for the upcoming summer months.

Students also received veggies and dip as well as, frozen yogurt to reinforce the benefits of healthy snacks.

Everyone appreciated the wonderful week PTA Vice Presidents Jenny Lengyel and Terese Loiselle provided and look forward to starting healthier lifestyles.
