Health Fair and 5K Coming to Malverne

The annual Malverne Rotary 5K to benefit the local schools will also feature a health fair this year.

The annual 5K Run/Walk for Education, sponsored by the Malverne Rotary, is returning for its seventh year.

On Oct. 16, participants will cross the start line at Howard T. Herber Middle School in Malverne at 9:00 a.m. and run (or walk) 3.1 miles, while raising money to support scholastic and athletic projects within the local school district.

If you pay before Oct. 14, registration for the walk is $20. You can register online at www.active.com through Oct. 12, or via mail to Malverne Rotary Run for Education, PO Box 34, Malverne, NY 11565-0034. All checks or money orders must be payable to Malverne Rotary. Registration will also take place from 7:30-9:00 a.m. on the day of the walk for $25.

 New this year, the event will also feature a free health fair. Held in conjunction with North Shore LIJ Franklin Hospital, the health fair will feature local health professionals sharing their expertise with residents on such topics as chiropractic work, acupuncture, nutrition, and overall health and wellness. The fair will be at Malverne High School from 8 a.m. –  noon and is open to all community members. For more information about the fair click here.
