The Howard T. Herber Middle School Community Service Club held its annual “Have a Heart for the Homeless” program last week.
Students and staff were encouraged to bring in donations of bread, jelly and peanut butter, with more than 30 members of the club taking part in the sandwich making.
Approximately 600 sandwiches were prepared and donated to the Interfaith Nutrition Network in Hempstead, which benefits individuals and families in need. Upcoming projects for the club include the HTH Talent Show, the Principal for a Day fundraiser and Relay for Life.
