Sure, these are good things for the kids you say? I would like to think in the same altruistic way you do, but the FIRST thing that is threatened if the outrageous budgets aren't passed are ALL the good things for the kids you mentioned above. It's like ruling with an iron club. For $74 MILLION DOLLARS, those kids are entitled to FAR more than this district provides.
MAabe you should have studied a little in school but the superuintendet makes less than the president. Actually we should have went with the plan that had three of the turf fields installed
Turf field aside, this pathetic district, with it's goon like teachers union, like EVERY other district on LI, has a supt and 3 assistants. If there is REAL money to be saved, it is in the consolidation of leadership, administration and duplication of services. It's time to move. Adios muchachos y muchachas.
It's sickening.
You are so right about this administratively top-heavy district. There is absolutely no reason for any of it... the school district is too small for this nonsense. It's not *just* the turf field ... it's about YEARS of over-crowding in the High School, students reports of cockroaches running around the building, bloated teachers salaries and insane administrative salaries. Y'all might want to ask yourself why Mr. Barbarino a former High School Chemistry teacher with NO DEGREE in Education Administration shadowed the former Superintendent who DID have an Admin Degree... *just* long enough for him to take the spot. He stays a few years and then retires.... hmmm... ya think that had *something* to do with how his pension is funded? Nahhh.... all of that couldn't be THAT contrived. You're all like sheep.
Now all we need are ALL THE OTHER intensely fabulous things the other schools have like perhaps a top flight curriculum and high as kite SAT scores. When the kids on the "new beautiful turf field" are attending Ivy League Universities because they are competitive enough to get into those schools, THEN we will have BETTER than anyone else has. In the meantime, they're spending millions for what.... 5 football games? Perfect.
