Lady Mules Lax End Season With Loss to Gladiators

Malverne-East Rockaway girls lacrosse suffered a 19-7 defeat to New Hyde Park Monday - their final game of the season.

Heroes: Taylor Cussen led the Lady Mules in scoring with two goals, but the team was outplayed by the Spartans. Jillian Graziano was New Hyde Park's highest scorer with seven goals followed by Kristen Lynch with six. Gladiator Ciara McCullagh scored two goals and helped the team keep possession of the ball.

Turning point: Though Malverne scored the first goal of the game within the first two minutes, New Hyde Park steadily added to their lead ending the first half at 13-5.

Coach's Corner: Malverne Head Coach Nicole Beauford noted that New Hyde Park played really well during the game, which was Malverne's last game of the season. She added that New Hyde Park was good at passing down the field and that that is something she will work with her team on next year.

Bottom Line: Through good passes down the field and strong defense, New Hyde Park plowed their way through this game.

Who's Next? Although Malverne's season is over, New Hyde Park has a "huge game" on Tuesday against Bellmore-JFK, explained Lorin Wirth as this may help the team get into the playoffs.
