Lynbrook Basketball Star Breaks School Record

Brooke Gerstman is in a class of her own.

senior Brooke Gerstman recently passed an impressive milestone as she scored her 1000th point, breaking the previous school record of 1076 points, held by Caroline Kaufman since 1989.

In a Derek Jeter moment, Brooke scored her 1000th basket with a three-pointer, bringing the crowd to its feet. A few games later, she sunk a total of seven three-pointers, establishing a new school record for the most three-point shots in one game.

Gerstman, who Newsday called “arguably the best public school basketball player in Nassau,” was named a second team All-Long Island player in her junior year.

Gerstman is also a standout off the court. An honor roll student, she is a member of the National Honor Society, the Leadership Club, Athletes Creating Excellence, and the Spanish Club. She also tutors and volunteers at a children’s basketball program.
