Lynbrook BOE Appoints Interim Assistant to the Superintendent

Former Sewanhaka Superintendent Warren Meierdiercks joins Lynbrook School District.

The Lynbrook Board of Education has appointed Warren A. Meierdiercks as interim assistant to the superintendent, effective Oct. 10. In this role, Mr. Meierdiercks will assume all business office operations for the district. He will be working under the direction of Assistant Superintendent for Business Dr. Melissa Burak, who was named interim superintendent of schools after the sudden passing of Superintendent Dr. Santo Barbarino in August of this year.

Meierdiercks comes to Lynbrook from the nearby Sewanhaka Central High School District where he served as superintendent of schools from July 2006 until his retirement in June 2011. . A 37-year veteran of the Sewanhaka District, Meierdiercks began his career as a teacher of business education at Sewanhaka High School in 1974. Over the years, he served as high school chairperson of business, assistant business administrator, business administrator, and assistant superintendent for finance and operations, before ultimately assuming the responsibilities of the superintendent of schools.

Mr. Meierdiercks is currently an adjunct professor at Fordham University and has also taught at C.W. Post, College of Saint Rose, College of New Rochelle and Farmingdale State College.
