Lynbrook High School Presents 'All in the Timing'

Students perform a collection of one-act plays by American playwright David Ives.

The Lynbrook High School Stagers and Backstagers presented a production
of “All in the Timing,” a collection of one-act plays by American playwright David Ives.

In “Sure Thing,” Bill (played by Matt Paris) and Betty (Samantha Harris) meet
in a café and make their way through a conversational minefield as an offstage bell
interrupts each false start and faux pas, until they finally connect romantically.

In “The Universal Language,” featuring Tim Keegan, Natalie Skoblow and Rheanna Randazzo, two young people somehow manage to fall in love while communicating in a comical invented language called Unamunda.

“Philip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread,” featuring Christina Cuevas, Nicole Galvagni, Mo Sadek and Griffin Kreit, is a musical parody of minimalist composer Philip
Glass having an existential crisis in a bakery.

“The Philadelphia,” featuring Maggie Neal, Samantha Laskin and Maria Ciaccio,
is the story of a young woman in a restaurant who finds herself in a Twilight Zone-like situation in which she must ask for the opposite of whatever she wants.

“Variations on the Death of Trotsky,” featuring Mike Frenez, Chelsea Carver
and Aidan Dunn, shows the Russian revolutionary on the day of his demise, desperately trying to cope with the mountain climber’s ax he’s discovered in his head.

The show was directed by Jill Speiser, with the assistance of Tom Santacapita.
Art director Michael Kunz and set constructor Tom Wolber created the delightfully
elaborate sets. Christina D’Angelo was the costume director. The stage crew, working under stage manager Samara Berry, executed a series of complicated set changes without the usual cover of a drawn curtain, providing added entertainment between acts.
