By Rosemary Leonetti

Griffin Kreit, a senior at Lynbrook High School, has been named a News 12 Scholar-Athlete. Kreit was chosen for this honor based on his athletic and academic achievements, extracurricular activities and leadership qualities.

A three-season varsity athlete, Griffin is captain of the cross-country, winter track and spring track teams. He has earned All-Division, All-Conference, Conference Champion and All-County track honors.

Equally talented in music, Griffin is a two-time All-County musician who competed in the All-State Music Festival. Active in his school’s science research program, he submitted a research paper to the Intel Science Talent Search.

A member of the National Honor Society and the Tri-M Music Honor Society, Griffin also serves as treasurer of the Science Olympiad. Outside of school, he has volunteered his time working in an animal shelter in Costa Rica.
