Lynbrook High School senior Emma Harrington was one of 20 students to be recognized with an Award of Merit in the Long Island Scholar-Artist Awards program, sponsored by the Long Island Arts Alliance in cooperation with Newsday. The Scholar-Artist program recognizes talented students in the fine and performing arts. The Award of Merit is one of two award categories in the Scholar-Artist program.
Emma was invited to attend a kickoff event at the Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts on Sept. 20 for a welcome reception, dinner and photo shoot, giving her an opportunity to meet with representatives from the arts programs of local colleges. She will also be honored at an end-of-the-year reception at the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts.
A two-time All-State musician and a six-time All-County musician, Emma is a member of the National Honor Society and the Tri-M Music Honor Society. She is the drum major for the marching band and also performs in the wind ensemble, concert choir and jazz choir.
