Lynbrook School Budget Passes

Voters approve 2011-12 spending plan.

On Tuesday, Lynbrook residents voted in favor of the 2011-12 budget proposed by the Lynbrook Board of Education.

The $72.89 million spending plan received 1,384 votes in favor and 947 votes against. The budget maintains all district programs, class sizes and staffing levels. The property tax levy is expected to rise 4.39 percent next year.

Proposition, 2, asking for voter approval to use $457,400 from a technology reserve fund for various upgrades in the district, was also approved.

The new budget goes into effect July 1.
