Lynbrook senior Kyle Parsard has been named a semifinalist in the 48th annual National Achievement Scholarship Program. Parsard will now have the opportunity to go on to compete for approximately 800 Achievement Scholarship Awards.

This competition was established in 1964 to provide recognition for outstanding Black American high school students. Of the more than 160,000 students who enter the National Achievement Program each year, only 1,600 are named semifinalists.

Parsard qualified for this honor by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, better known as the PSAT/NMSQT. A high honor roll student and AP Scholar, Parsard was also named a Commended Student in the National Merit Scholarship Program. He is a member of the National Honor Society and the Tri-M Music Honor Society and performs in his school’s orchestra and jazz band.
