Lynbrook Seniors Named to National Football Scholar Athlete Team
The two seniors are both honor roll students and stand-out athletes at Lynbrook High School.
Matthew Trotta and Johnny Emmerich, both seniors at have been selected for the National Football Foundation Scholar Athlete Team. Trotta was also selected to the Golden 11 Team, representing the Top 11 Scholar Athletes in Nassau County.
Trotta, a linebacker, is a two-year starter who was selected as an All-County player in 2011. As this year’s team captain, he led the Owls defense with 116 tackles and two sacks, and over the last two years, he has had more than 200 tackles.
An honor roll student, Trotta is a member of the National Honor Society, Athletes Creating Excellence, the varsity wrestling team and the Italian Club. Outside of school, he has done volunteer work for local youth sports organizations and Habitat for Humanity.

Emmerich, a free safety, is a two-year starter for Lynbrook. He was the leader of the team’s secondary, which recorded 14 interceptions and helped the defense excel, propelling Lynbrook to a 6-3 record into the playoffs.
An honor roll student, Emmerich is a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish Club. A three-season athlete, he also plays varsity basketball and lacrosse.
