Lynbrook Students Tip Hats for Hurricane Sandy Victims

Marion Street School raises money through "Caps for Caring."

In an effort to raise funds to support local families who are in need of assistance after Hurricane Sandy, Lynbrook students at Marion Street School have embarked on a project called Caps for Caring.

Beginning on Friday, Nov. 30, students and staff wore hats to school on four consecutive Fridays, donating money on each day that they sported a hat. With one week left in the campaign, the school had almost reached its goal to raise $1,000.

“This project ties in with our school theme of caring for the month of December,” said Principal Theresa Macchia. “The recent storm-related events have brought the idea of caring close to home this year for many of our students and staff.”
