Lynbrook High School to Appear on MSG Varsity's 'The Marching Band'

The MSG Varsity special airs on Thanksgiving Day - Thursday, Nov. 24, from 2-5 pm.

will appear on “The Marching Bands,” a three-hour television event that captures the 49th Annual Newsday Marching Band Festival. 

The special will include highlights of performances by 46 of the best Long Island high school marching bands – including Lynbrook - along with interviews of band leaders and student participants. 

“The Marching Bands” premieres Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 24, from 2-5 p.m. on MSG Varsity, Cablevision’s iO TV (Channel 14).

“MSG Varsity is thrilled to share the spirit and excitement of ‘The Marching Bands’ this Thanksgiving,” said MSG Varsity’s General Manager Theresa Chillianis, in a press release. “We are proud to showcase these very talented student musicians and to share this hallmark event with the community.”

Held each October at Hofstra University, the three-day Newsday Marching Band Festival is an annual exhibition presenting some of Long Island’s most talented high school marching bands. A portion of the ticket sales goes to each of the participating high school bands, as well as the Newsday Marching Band Grant program that assists Hofstra music students in their studies.

If you miss it on Thanksgiving Day, “The Marching Bands” will also air on Friday, Nov. 25 from 1:30 - 4:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 26 from 9:30 p.m. - 12:30 a.m. and Sunday, Nov. 27 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.
