Malverne Marching Band Prepares to Pursue Third Straight State Title

Attend four-day summer camp to perfect routines for upcoming season.

The Pride of Marching Band -- the reigning New York State Champions -- ended their summer vacation early in order to perfect their show for the upcoming season.

As part of a four-day camp held on the field at Malverne High School in August, marching band students practiced their new formations and music for their upcoming performances and competitions. This year’s performances will be based around the theme, “Into the Raging River.” The camp culminated with a special performance for parents on its last evening.

The Malverne marching band won its second consecutive state title in October. It was the third time in the past five years that the group won the state championship, but the 2011 victory was even sweeter because it was the first time they were competing in the higher Small School 2 division against teams that are bigger and more experienced.
