Malverne Choir Selected to Perform at Carnegie Hall

Malverne High School's select choir will sing at the famous music venue this spring with the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra.

Duke Ellington, the Beatles, and Pink Floyd are just some of the top musicians who have performed at New York City's Carnegie Hall and this spring, the Malverne High School Select Choir will step foot on that very same stage.

The students' exceptional talents have earned them an invitation to perform at Carnie Hall on May 19, 2012, when they will sing with the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra.

To be chosen for this honor, the Select Choir sent in an audio recording of themselves singing “The Virgin Mary Had a Baby Boy," and received the invitation a few days later, a spokeswoman for the school district told Patch.

Malverne is one of only five schools selected to perform at this event.

“We are honored to take part in this performance opportunity, and we know that our students will cherish the memories and friendships made from this,” Select Choir director Ken Zagare said.
