Malverne High School Names New Principal

Vincent A. Romano will replace current principal James Brown, who is retiring.

Vincent A. Romano, Ed.D., currently serving as assistant principal of Malverne High School, will take the helm as principal, effective July 1, 2013.

Appointed to the position at Malverne School District’s May 14 board of education meeting, he will follow the retirement of current principal James Brown.

Romano is a nine-year veteran of the Malverne School District, having served in his current role for the last four years and serving as an assistant principal at Howard T. Herber Middle School and as the districtwide chairperson for social studies in years prior.

He has also been an adjunct professor at St. John’s University and a social studies teacher in the Elmont School District for a total of 14 years in education.

“I am excited to have the opportunity to lead an incredible team of educators and professionals who genuinely love and care about the children they serve,” Romano said. “Malverne has made significant progress over the past several years, and I hope to continue to work collaboratively with teachers, students, support staff, parents and the entire school community to ensure that all of our children continue to succeed academically, socially and emotionally.”

Romano earned both his Bachelor of Arts in history and his Master of Science in secondary education from SUNY Stony Brook and his doctorate in administration and supervision from St. John’s University. He has served as a presenter at national, state and local conferences and was named a Phi Delta Kappa “Friend of Education” award winner by Molloy College in 2008.
