Malverne Schools Give Thanks to Board of Education

By Danielle Lambert

In honor of October as Board Recognition Month, each of the schools in the Malverne Union Free School District gave thanks to the Malverne Board of Education at the Oct. 8 meeting.

First-graders from Maurice W. Downing Primary School sang an alphabet song on what the Board means to them, while Davison Avenue Intermediate School’s Special Forces delivered artwork and sang a brief song of thanks to the tune of “This Little Light of Mine.”

Set to the theme of “The Olympic Dream,” students at Howard T. Herber Middle School read a poem to the Board and distributed gold medals of gratitude to each member. Senior Jordan Tyson closed the recognition portion of the evening with a special rendition of West Side Story’s “I Have Love.”

In addition, T-shirts were distributed to the Board members in honor of a donation made in their names to support the fight against breast cancer.
