OLL Teacher Teresa McKee Dies

Taught at Malverne school for more than 40 years.

Teresa Ann McKee, a long-time teacher at Our Lady of Lourdes School in Malverne, passed away Saturday morning. She was 67.

McKee, a lifelong East Rockaway resident, had graduated from East Rockaway Junior-Senior High School, Molloy College and Hofstra University.

She started teaching at OLL in 1968 and devoted 42 years to the school and its students before retiring in 2010. During that time, she taught nearly every grade in the Catholic elementary school and took students on memorable field trips including Ellis Island.

"...  2/3's of my life was spent at Lourdes and it was a wonderful time," McKee posted on Facebook in April 2010 as she announced she'd be retiring that June.

McKee was the beloved daughter of the late Pauline (nee Ruvolo) and the late Robert McKee.  She was adored by her siblings Kathleen (nee McKee) (Ron) Hartling and Robert (Patricia) McKee, and was a beloved aunt to Robert, Bryan, Kevin and Michael.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Jan. 2, and Thursday, Jan. 3, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Perry Funeral Home (118 Union Ave., Lynbrook). Funeral Mass will be Friday, Jan. 4, at 9:45 a.m. at St. Raymond's RC Church in East Rockaway. Interment at Holy Rood Cemetery.

That’s very nice that school districts that have the highest school taxes and costs, areRead More receiving additional money. The problem is that our state is in dire financial trouble and we can’t afford it. Upstate NY is a distressed disaster. How much more taxes are we going to pay?. Hear those feet marching out of state. Try fighting for drilling so we have jobs and revenue.

.......there they go again whitewashing a dilemma they don't want to touch......unconscionableRead More salaries and pensions paid by the taxpayer for incompetence? Not to mention 13 week vacations as well as numerous 1/2 days and weather shortened days. A $50000 band aid we end up paying indirectly anyway only increases taxes further down the road. They are either that stupid or they think we are!
