Our Lady of Peace Visits NYC District Attorney

Opportunity was used to enhance class preparations for Catholic Middle School Mock Trial Program.

The Enrichment Class from the Our Lady of Peace School in Lynbrook visited the Manhattan District Attorney's Office on Feb. 28.

These sixth, seventh and eighth-grade students were able to gain fascinating, first-hand knowledge of the legal system and how it operates. The visit was hosted by Assistant District Attorney Jeannette Molina.

The students met and talked with District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance and had the opportunity to discuss their upcoming mock trial. They then met and talked with Assistant District Attorney Beth Potashnick about cyber crimes and cyber bullying.

They also visited arraignments, viewed a trial in NYS Supreme Court and toured the detective squad, line-up area and engineering. The educational opportunity was used to enhance class preparations for The Catholic Middle School Mock Trial Program that they will participate in May at St. John's University.
