PHOTOS: Lynbrook Students Honor America, Veterans

Patriotic singalong comes just in time for "Valentines for Veterans."

Earlier this month, second-grade students at Lynbrook’s Marion Street School, dressed in red, white and blue, invited their families to share a patriotic singalong.

The event featured such all-American favorites as “The Star-Spangled Banner,” “America the Beautiful,” “Yankee Doodle,” “God Bless America,” “Grand Old Flag” and “Proud to Be an American.”

Student speakers from each class introduced the songs, sharing details about their knowledge of American history and famous Americans.

But these civic-minded second-graders did not just give lip service to patriotism. They also participated in Valentines for Veterans, sending more than 100 valentines to patients at the VA Hospital in Queens to thank them for their loyal service to our country.
