Photos: Our Lady Peace Celebrates Special People Day

The event took place on Tuesday at the school in Lynbrook.

The Kindergarten through third grade students at in Lynbrook celebrated "Special People Day" on Tuesday, Jan. 31. This is one of the many fun celebrations that take place during

Each child had the opportunity to choose one person who is special to them. There were many moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas, aunts, uncles, siblings and friends on hand. The special guests had the opportunity to visit the classrooms and see the fantastic work displays throughout the building.

The guests were then invited to the Fr. Larry Penzes Auditorium to watch the students perform a beautiful tribute to this great country of ours, The United States of America. All the students in grades K-3 sang "We Are The People of The 21st Century." The kindergarten class then sang "Flag of Many Lands" and "You're A Grand Old Flag," the first graders sang "Sing of America" and the second graders sang and used sign language to perform "America, My Home". Finally the 3rd graders sang "United We Stand."

The crowd was then treated to a slide-show presentation and the whole group sang "Proud" and "God Bless America." The fabulous day ended with light refreshments for all.

Special thanks to all the hard working administration, teachers and staff that worked so hard with the students to make such a beautiful day for the "Special People" in their lives.
