PHOTOS: WH Students Celebrate Canceled Winter Break with Spirit Week

Loss of winter break doesn't damper spirits in West Hempstead.

Despite the fact that West Hempstead students had to attend school during the February break, they used the opportunity to celebrate “Spirit Week.”

The West Hempstead Board of Education, like many other boards in the area, voted in November to cancel the February winter break in order to make up instructional days that were lost during Hurricane Sandy.

The photos are from the final day of "Spirit Week," when students and teachers dressed up as twins as part of the celebration.
