WHEA Champions Again! Middle School Wins Volleyball Tourney [Photos]

West Hempstead students cheer on their teachers at annual volleyball fundraiser.

The teachers of West Hempstead Middle School took home their fourth consecutive WHEA volleyball championship Friday night, beating their fellow faculty members in the friendly competition to raise scholarship funds.

Students from the district's five schools - , , , and - and their families packed the stands of the high school gym on March 2. They cheered and waved banners in support of their school as they watched their teachers and principals square off on the court.

With each serve, set and spike, each member of the West Hempstead Education Association not only put on a great show but they also inspired school pride and helped raise money for scholarships for graduating seniors. The sold-out event generated funds through admission sales and raffles.

Ultimately, West Hempstead Middle School took home the title, as it has every year since the tournament began in 2009, but a great time was had by all.
