Pick Up a Book, Pass It Around

What are you reading for "Read Across America Day"?

Celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday March 2 by joining book lovers and your local schools and public library for Read Across America day.

This year, the National Education Association, a group of more than 3.2 million educators who work to improve public schools, is calling on book lovers around the nation to take up The Lorax, the popular Dr. Seuss children's book published in 1971 about the lovable creature who fights to save the environment.

Lynbrook will be participating. The Kindergarten Center in Lynbrook will be having a Read Across America celebration from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Friday.  The children will be dressed up as their favorite Nursery Rhymes and Mrs. Marino, the Librarian from Waverly, will be coming over to read to the children.

Students at the will be participating in a school-wide project that celebrates Dr. Seuss' birthday all of next week, from March 5 to 9.  Students will watch the video “And to Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street” in honor of the book’s 75th birthday, display their “clouds of imagination” artwork in the lower and upper hallways, and will choose and read one book by Seuss. The title read by each student will be added to the final tally of the most popular Dr. Seuss book at West End.
