Pride of Malverne Upholds State Championship Title

The Malverne High School Marching Band wins its second consecutive New York State Championship.

They did it again!

The Pride of Malverne High School Marching Band capped off an undefeated season by winning their second consecutive New York State Championship.

This is Malverne's third title in the last five years, but their first win at the higher Small School 2 division, where they competed against larger, more experienced marching bands.

Under the direction of Malverne alum Erin Lynch, the band performed it's 2011 field show titled “Rhythms, Layers and Echoes.” ( to see them perform the routine at halftime of one of the Mules home football games.)

“This year’s victory was the result of the students working together like they never have before,” Lynch said. “They had a common goal and stayed focused on making it happen.”

Wow! Only those who participate in marching bands know just how much teamwork goes into this activity. Is there any way of publically recognizing the individual efforts of every member?

Although not a Malverne resident, I appreciate all the hard work these students went through to win the NYS Championship! Congrats to all the students and Malverne!

Bravo! Love seeing you march at the parades and hearing you practice every night! You're all winners and make us all proud!
