Report: Malverne School Trustee Did Not Violate Federal, State Laws

Trustee Gina Genti was found to be in violation of school district policies.

The Malverne School District's investigation of Gina Genti has found that while the school board trustee did not violate federal or state laws, she did violate school district policies in regards to the alleged harassment of two district employees.

The district , in November 2012 in an attempt to investigate complaints made against Genti by two central office employees in December 2011.

Documents show that those complaints were by Lisa Ridley, the district clerk, and Spiro Colaitis, assistant superintendent for district operations.

Newsday further reported that the complaints against Genti read that she sent Ridley "'verbally abusive' emails," while questioning Colaitis' "hiring practices and business practices on a local blog" and publicly making a concerted effort "in a campaign to terminate or eliminate his position."

District business administrator Thomas P. McDaid Jr. told Newsday that the investigation cost $8,000.
